Today's match was a tough one for the men’s team, starting with only 1 sub and trying out the 4-3-3 formation again. The boys had it cut out for them, especially after hearing that Winchcombe drew 4-4 against Cheltenham.

The game started strong regardless of the pitch conditions, with everyone comfortable in their positions. Winchcombe started flying out the gate which caught Bourton and Sherborne off guard but they held their own until some unfortunate circumstance led to Winchcombe scoring their goal and going up 1-0 against Bourton. After a fairly even test of that half with some good attempts on goal and some good play, the half came to a close, Winchcombe 1 Bourton 0.

After a halftime talk, the boys went back out searching for that goal that they desperately wanted, with a late addition to the team, Shep. Again Bourton had some good chances on goal and some near misses from Sam Dearman, but Winchcombe we always just in the way. The second half continued with some great saves from their goalkeeper Dan, but Bourton just couldn’t seem to get it in the back of the net.

As the game was coming to a close with no more than a minute left, Winchcombe gave away a card outside the D which gave Bourton one last opportunity to score, and they took it. Sir James Marriott of the back of the short corner put it in the back of the net with no more than 10 seconds on the clock. Winchcombe threw everything they had for those last ten seconds but Bourton stood their ground and the match ended with a score line of 1-1.
